Notice of stakeholder outreach webinar for two offshore wind projects in State waters off the coast of Vandenberg Air Force Base

The California State Lands Commission, as lead agency under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), is in the early scoping phase for two offshore wind projects in state waters off the coast of Vandenberg Air Force Base. On December 8, Commission staff will host an informational webinar with stakeholders and government agency representatives to introduce the two projects and provide the application status, project descriptions, and a preliminary list of likely affected resources. Additional details about the two project applications are available here.

The goal of this first webinar is to introduce and provide details about the proposed projects, discuss the Commission’s application process, identify a preliminary list of likely affected resources, and describe the next steps, including staff’s plan to host additional, focused stakeholder outreach webinars and discussions. Due to time constraints and the anticipated large number of participants, questions and comments may be limited and will be curated using the Zoom Q&A feature. We know that there is significant interest in these two proposed projects. To facilitate meaningful engagement with all stakeholders, interested parties, and agency representatives, Commission staff will conduct additional webinars to elicit input on the two projects and their potential impacts on the coastal and marine environments. Please consider submitting questions via email at stateapplications.OSW@slc.ca.gov before the December 8 webinar so that Commission staff can try to address those questions during the webinar as part of our presentations. You may use this same email address to provide comments or request to be added to our e-list.
