Below are highlights from the October meeting.

The August Commission meeting was held in person (at the Port of San Diego) and virtually. Joe Stuyvesant, the President & Chief Executive Officer of the Port, welcomed the Commission and noted the long-standing collaborative partnership with the Commission and the importance of the Commission’s visit.

June marked the Commission’s second hybrid meeting where the public participated both in-person (in the City of Long Beach) and virtually. April marked the Commission’s first hybrid meeting where the public participated both in-person (in the City of Goleta) and virtually. It also marked the first meeting that included two site visits, which were to the Rincon Island and Piers 421 oil and gas decommissioning project sites. The Commission expressed its gratitude to the City of Goleta for hosting the Commission and to Mayor Paula Perotte for welcoming the Commission.

Commission Chair Lieutenant Governor Kounalakis reflected on the Commission’s key achievements this past year, including adopting a new five-year strategic plan to guide the Commission’s work through 2025. The Chair also acknowledged the Commission’s ongoing evolution and productiveness during these unprecedentedly challenging times.
