The City of Crescent City was granted certain sovereign lands in trust in 1868. The grant was amended in 1963, in part, to describe the sovereign land granted to the City and to provide that the land be used for the establishment, improvement, and conduct of a harbor, for the construction, reconstruction, repair, maintenance and operation of wharves, docks, piers, slips, quays and all other works, buildings, facilities, utilities, structures, and appliances incidental, necessary or convenient for commerce, navigation and fisheries, and for public recreation purposes.
The City is required by Section 6306 of the Public Resources Code to complete an annual financial statement and standardized reporting form for trust lands on or before December 31 of each year.
